Struggling to switch off your mind after work?

Hi there,

Your laptop is closed. The workday is technically over.

But your mind?

Still answering emails. Still replaying that one conversation. Still running tomorrow’s to-do list on a loop.

And if you’re a parent, your second shift has probably already started - dinner, kids, chores, one more thing, and one more thing after that.

Here’s what I keep coming back to, both in my own practice and with my students:

You don’t need an hour to feel the benefits of yoga. You need three things: breath, movement, stillness and 10 honest minutes.

Your 10-Minute After-Work Slow Down Ritual

Breathe - 3 minutes (Practice Conscious Breathing/Deep Breathing)

Before you reach for your phone or another screen, find a quiet corner. Sit. Relax your shoulders. Soften your gaze.

Inhale for 4. Exhale for 6.

That’s it. Nothing complicated. We breathe all day without ever noticing the moment you bring awareness to it, you give yourself a way out of the noise.

Move - 3 to 4 minutes (Practice Slow Asanas)

Your body carried the day too - the desk, the drive, the meetings, the bags, the invisible weight of it all. Pick three gentle yoga stretches or slow yoga postures. Move slowly. Let your breath lead, not your to-do list.

You’re telling your body: it’s safe to soften now.

Be still - 3 minutes (Meditate)

No phone. No scrolling. No podcast. Nothing to achieve.

Just notice your breath, your body. Let thoughts come and go. Come back to breathing.

Three minutes sounds small. Practiced consistently, it isn’t.

One thing I want you to remember

Even on the days you can’t make it to a full class, your practice doesn’t disappear. Five minutes counts. Ten minutes counts. One conscious breath counts. Your practice meets you exactly where you are.

If switching off is a regular struggle for you, I’d love to teach you how live.

JOIN MY BREATH-LED ONLINE YOGA CLASS

This ritual is a small piece of what we practice together in my live online group yoga classes: Pranayama, Hatha Yoga, meditation, and mindfulness you can actually carry into your evenings not just onto your mat.

🇺🇸 USA (PST) — Tue, Wed & Thu, 6:00–7:00 PM. A post-work hour to put the day down before it follows you home.

🇮🇳 India — Wed, Thu & Fri, 6:30–7:30 AM. A grounded start before the day picks up speed.

Yoga shouldn’t be one more thing on your list. It’s where you finally get to put the list down.

If you’d like to join me and learn how to build your own slow-down practice, simply

For tonight, don’t reach for more. Just ten minutes. Breathe. Move. Be still. Let the day end.

With warmth,
Jagruthi
Breathe. Slow Down. Heal.
